Organisers of Bath's first comedy festival are laughing all the way to the bank after receiving a cash boost from lottery funds.

The ground-breaking festival of humour has been given a GBP10,000 National Lottery grant two months ahead of the opening night.

Festival founder Alex Timms was guest of honour at The Bath Chronicle's Business Breakfast at the Bath Spa Hotel and explained the 12-day extravaganza was likely to bring an extra GBP1.5 million into the city.

The event, which begins on April Fool's Day, has already received the backing of sponsors including Bath chartered accountants Pearson May, and Bath Ales, …
