What would you do if you got a pay raise? Spend it on necessities, such as groceries, utilities, clothing? What if your after-tax raise came to $74,440?
Well, if you were James Drake, you would give it all away. According to a press release on orlandosentinel.com, Drake, the president of Brevard Community College in Cocoa, Florida, made the donation as an example of generosity "in stark contrast to the greed of leaders nationally." Drake's gift will provide $300 scholarships to 248 full-time students in need. This could cover up to 85 percent of textbook costs for a semester, which just might make the difference between attending school or not for some.
