Port of Charleston to lose another Maersk Line loop.

The Port of Charleston, S.C., will lose another weekly vessel call in March as a result of a new vessel-sharing agreement between Maersk Line and CMA CGM that will combine two loops from the Mediterranean to the U.S. East Coast.

Maersk will combine its WestMed service with CMA CGM's Amerigo Express Service in a new service that will eliminate the call in Charleston currently made by the weekly WestMed loop. (See related story Page 11)

The new service will call at Norfolk, Va., and Savannah, Ga., with cargo to and from the South Atlantic. Its port rotation will be Algeciras, Spain; Malta; Gioia Tauro, Italy; Livorno, Italy; Genoa, Italy; Fos, France; …
