However, they mustn't get ahead of themselves, as the Trinamul Congress in Midnapore East district are preparing stiff resistance to the project. Mr Sisir Adhikari, a senior Trinamul Congress leader and legislative member of Egra, said: We will not permit the existence of a chemical hub at Nayachar, since it will devastate the surrounding sea's ecological balance and damage the livelihoods of over 5,0000 fishermen and their families residing along the island shores.
