BANK NEGARA TO TABLE NEW CENTRAL BANK ACT IN PARLIAMENT - DR ZETI.

from BERNAMA, The Malaysian National News Agency KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 (Bernama) -- Bank Negara is to table in Parliament a new Central Bank Act, its Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz said today.

The proposed Act would provide the central bank with the powers and instruments to perform its roles and functions effectively, she said in her address at Bank Negara's 50th anniversary celebrations.

"The proposed Act will also institutionalise many of the practices that have been introduced in recent decade which are deemed critical to ensure the central bank has the necessary authority and in the state of readiness to face future challenges," she said.
