Britain has imposed a visa requirement on South Africans wishing to visit that country, Home Affairs Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula announced in the National Assembly on Monday.
"I received formal communication from the UK government today [Monday]... informing me that... they have now decided to introduce a visa requirement for South African citizens," she told MPs, interrupting debate in the House on last week's State of the Nation address. The imposition of a visa requirement is set to affect over 400,000 South Africans who visit the United Kingdom each year as tourists, on business, or in transit.
