from BERNAMA, The Malaysian National News Agency PUTRAJAYA, Jan 31 (Bernama) -- The recent flu attack in Sungai Besar, Sabak Bernam, is not avian flu, the Health Ministry confirmed today.
Director-General of Health Tan Sri Ismail Merican said the symptoms experienced by the 165 students and five teachers were not characteristic of avian flu.
Furthermore, field checks and information garnered from the Veterinary Department showed that there had been no deaths of birds in that area and the students and teachers had not come into any contact with birds, he said.
