If young Malik Hameed, 17, of Birmingham, Alabama, is remorseful over his involvement in a robbery on November 30, it is likely the outcome that he most regrets.

Hameed is now charged with the murder of a family friend, Patrick Levert, 26, the gunman in the robbery, who was shot and killed during the crime.

Though Hameed didn't shoot Levert, he is charged with capital murder because he was a conspirator in a crime that resulted in death. Direct involvement is not required for such a charge to be lodged since the death occurred in an armed robbery in which Hameed was a willing participant.
