Take note, though, that January in New York is no longer all about Americana. Collectors of European works on paper should mark their calendars for the third annual Master Drawings Week in New York scheduled for January 24-31. Eighteen dealers will exhibit a selection of works dating from the sixteenth century to the present--including oil sketches, watercolors, and drawings in charcoal, pencil, and ink--in galleries on the city's Upper East Side. The event was launched in 2001 in London, where it will take place from July 4-10, and it has been a great success in both cities.
