The Winter Antiques Show will celebrate its fifty-fifth year with a loan exhibition featuring a dazzling display of some of the finest works from the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York, which is also the subject of articles in this issue by Gregory Cerio and Martin Filler. To complement the loan show, the museum's curators and education staff will present a series of lectures at the armory on subjects including early American glass, 1950s European glass, and White House glass and china from George Washington to Ronald Reagan. A selection of rare books and ephemera from Corning's renowned Rakow Research Library will also be part of the exhibition and will add further context to the objects on display. Inside the antiques show itself, visitors can expect to see--among the always incredible profusion of objects for sale--some two dozen exhibitors offering ancient through 1950s glass in their booths.
