MORAN, WYO. -- A fasting plasma homocysteine level of 10 [micro]mol/L or less ought to be the target in patients with known coronary disease, Dr. H. Robert Superko said at a meeting sponsored by the American College of Cardiology.
The rationale for this stringent goal--levels of 14 or 15 [micro]mol/L are now recommended--is based on an as-yet-unpublished study by Dr. Superko, director of the Cholesterol, Genetics, and Heart Disease Institute in San Mateo, Calif., and his associates.
