LAS VEGAS - In a large Cohort of patients with Barrett's esophagus, about half of those who developed high-grade dysplasia or cancer had two initial and consecutive endoscopies that revealed intestinal metaplasia but no dysplasia.
Factors other than negative initial dysplasia should be evaluated to risk-stratify patients, Dr. Prateek Sharma said at the annual meeting of the American College of Gastroenterology.
