LOTTERY money will be used to investigate measures aimed at getting maximum use from a north-east village's harbour and marina.
Harbour commissioners at Whitehills, near Banff, have secured a lottery grant of GBP9,500 to check the feasibility of installing gates at the harbour entrance.
A barrier would improve security and allow greater flexibility in the use of the facilities. Commissioner Ross Balharry said: 'The idea is to reduce the swell in the outer basin and make it feasible to use all year round.
