While the recession has pushed climate change off the front page, the momentum for global action is still building.

Last month, transport ministers from 22 nations, including representatives from ICAO and IMO, met in Tokyo to discuss how the transport sector - including aviation - can reduce carbon emissions.

The case for a company to act on climate change is a difficult one to make. Cargo emissions are relatively low, fuel costs are once again at reasonable levels, we''re in an extended economic crisis, and there''s uncertainty about how President Obama''s clean energy agenda will translate into regulation.
