ANAHEIM, CALIF. -- The ADMIRAL study strengthens the case for using abciximab in conjunction with stent procedures for diabetic patients with acute myocardial infarctions.
Data from the 300-patient ADMIRAL (Abciximab before Direct angioplasty and stenting in MI Regarding Acute and Long-term follow-up) study, presented by Dr. Gilles Montalescot at the annual scientific sessions of the American Heart Association, show that abciximab reduces the risk of a second MI, death, and the need for target vessel revascularization in diabetics undergoing primary stenting.
