Bartimpex, controlled by Aleksander Gudzowaty, is once again the factor tipping the balance in relations between PGNiG and Gazprom. PGNiG's strength in Gas Trading and ? as a consequence ? in EuRoPol Gaz is now fully dependent on Bartimpex. Gudzowaty's business, however, shows little support for the Polish petrol giant in its fight for control of the entity responsible for transferring gas via the Yamal pipeline.

A shareholders' meeting in Gas Trading, controlling 4 percent in EuRoPol Gaz, took place on 19 March. Gas Trading's owners were to have made a decision on filling the vacancy in the firm's supervisory board, after Bartlomiej Pawlak, PGNiG's representative, had resigned. Nonetheless the Polish gas monopolist was unable to push through its new rep into Gas Trading's supervisory body. Puls Biznesu unofficially learnt that PGNiG did not have enough time to win Aleksander Gudzowaty's support for its candidate. As a result, the Russians now have advantage over the Poles among Gas Trading's supervisors.
