Paz Vega brings her dark beauty to Hollywood's latest comic-strip blockbuster, The Spirit.
The first time Paz Vega appeared on a monitor during the filming of The Spirit, director Frank Miller admits he lost it. "Ask anyone," he says. "I was so thunderstruck by her beauty that I yelled 'Cut' instead of 'Action.' "
A former sitcom star in Madrid, the Spanish actress originally made an international splash with Sex and Lucia before landing opposite Adam Sandler in Spanglish . This month, she joins Eva Mendes, Scarlett Johansson, and newcomer Gabriel Macht in Miller's high-tech film adaptation of Will Eisner's 1940s newspaper comic strip. As Plaster of Paris, Vega puts her smoldering looks to good use ("She's sort of a dancer meets a master of knives," she says with a laugh).
