When I met Youssou, the subject of my documentary Youssou Ndour: I Bring What I Love, he gave me a recording of his album Egypt, which is a stunning celebration of his Islamic faith. I had planned to report on how the West would receive Ndour's work, but then the album was denounced in his home country of Senegal, so the film takes this very personal turn.
