I REALISE that the Church of England has at times in the past been labelled rightly or wrongly the "Tory Party at prayer."

Nevertheless I find the outburst of the five bishops against the current Labour Government to be quite extraordinary.

I am not sure whether this was a carefully choreographed attack linked to the remarks from Tory finance spokesman George Osbourne to cut taxes or simply coincidence.

But if not then the intrusion of the Church of England in this way to influence the political climate of the country is quite worrying.
