Bratislava, Jan 1 (CTK) - Slovakia exchanged the crown national currency for the euro at midnight and became a member of the eurozone. The euro has become the official currency in the country, but Slovaks will be able to use crowns for payments until January 16. The conversion rate of the crown to the single European currency is Sk30.1260/EUR. Economists and politicians say the euro will help Slovaks to overcome the impacts of the global financial crisis.
