Highland League football's longest-serving manager hopes renewed interest in the division from junior clubs can lead to an 18-team championship next season.

Junior clubs Formartine United, Turriff United and Banks o' Dee have already submitted applications ahead of tonight's deadline.

Fraserburgh manager Charlie Duncan is in favour of taking all three teams into the league to make it an 18-team competition, as it was in the past when Ross County, Caledonian and Inverness Thistle were all high-profile clubs in the league.
