A man has admitted allowing cannabis plants to be grown in a former church building in Forfar.

Calum Menzies pleaded guilty to a charge on indictment of knowingly permitting St James Church to be used for the unlawful production of cannabis.

A total of 104 plants with a potential value of up to GBP16,000 were discovered during a police raid on the disused church on St James Road.

Forfar Sheriff Court heard Menzies had owned the building for several years before the offence took place between June 17 and 21 last year. Menzies, of 131 Scott Street, Perth, had one key to the …
