SEOUL, Jan 1 Asia Pulse - Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., (KSE:009540) the world's largest shipbuilder, said Wednesday that it failed to meet this year's order target due to the global economic slump.

It received orders valued at a record US$28.2 billion this year, up 12.77 percent from $25 billion last year, the shipyard said in a regulatory filing.

But it fell short of its yearly target of $29.4 billion, according to Hyundai Heavy.
