JAKARTA, Jan 1 Asia Pulse - The Indonesian government will raise the ceiling price of dried unhulled rice by 9.1 per cent from Rp2,240 (US$0.20) to Rp2,400 per kg as of January 1, 2009, an economic official said.
The decision to raise the government-set ceiling price of dried unhulled rice was formalized in the recently-issued Presidential Instruction No 8/2008, Bayu Krisnamurthi, deputy for agricuktural and marine affairs to the coordinating minster of economic affairs, said here Wednesday.
In addition, the government would also increase the ceiling price of dried unhulled rice at hulling centers by about 7.2 per cent from Rp2,400 to Rp3,000 per kg.
In the meantime, the ceiling price of rice at the warehouse of the national logistics agency is also to be raised by 7 per cent to Rp4,600 per kilogram.
Furthermore, Bayu said the main point of the presidential instruction No 8/2008 had to do with an effort to encourage and facilitate the use of certified prime seedlings of rice in addition to using organic and unorganic fertilizer in a balanced way for rice businesses of the farmers.
