One of the biggest British films hits of the year owed a lot to Derbyshire.

Keira Knightley, who came to the county to film Pride and Prejudice, returned to make The Duchess, shot at Kedleston Hall and Chatsworth House. The costume drama struck a chord with audiences and helped boost the tourist trade in Derbyshire.

But it was far from the only film made in the county.

Another opulent costume drama, The Other Boleyn Girl featured Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman and was shot on location at places such as Dovedale.

And Summer, a drama shot near Bolsover, brought Robert Carlyle to Derbyshire. …
