According to NCAA calculations, graduation rates for athletes in the biggest college sports programs (Division I) are the highest ever, 87% for females and 71% for males, for an average of 78%.
The NCAA uses its own formula to calculate rates based on player graduations within six years after enrolling. Male basketball players enrolling between 1995 and 2001 had the worst rate at just 62%, which is an even lower 46% according to federal rules. Women basketball players were 82% and 64% respectively.
