Thailand: No evidence of big donation to Democrat Party by Vorachai, Election Commission says.

Section: Government and Politics - The Election Commission (EC) has found no record showing that PM's Office Minister Virachai Virameteekul made an 80 million baht donation to the Democrat party, the Bangkok Post reports.

Sodsri Sattayatham, the commissioner in charge of political party affairs, said on December 23 an inquiry found no records showing Mr Virachai or any companies he was affiliated with had donated 80 million baht in one lump sum to the Democrats.

From January to Dec 14 this year, the party received 170 million baht in donations. Of the total, about 120 million baht came from a fund-raising event in November, Mrs Sodsri said.
