Neal E. Boyd, the winner of MTNA's 2000 Young Artist Voice Competition, was named the winner of NBC's America's Got Talent.
The 32-year-old insurance salesman received $1 million and a headline show in Las Vegas, along with the title, "Best New Act in America." The television talent show consisted of an audition and several elimination rounds judged by celebrities Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and David Hasselhoff. Live semi-final performances were judged by the public via online and telephone votes.
