The importance of acquiring functional keyboard skills among undergraduate music majors has been highlighted in the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) requirements. (1) Such skills include, but are not limited to, harmonization, transposition, improvisation, accompanying, open score reading, sight reading and playing by ear.
