Anyone who's studied abroad knows what it's like to flip through your photos long after you return home. Reliving the memories is amusant, but you wish you could somehow erase that puffy version of yourself who had overdosed on bread and cheese for three months. That's exactly how Heather Allison, Deidre Sully, and Kathleen McNary feel as they look back on their lives before Total Makeoveronly their food-filled memories span decades, not a semester. But now that they've gained control of their eating habits, they feel happier, healthier, and more confident than ever.
PROGRESS REPORT
Heather Allison, university fund-raiser
LOOKING BACK: "I had horrible posture and flabby arms, and it used to be hard for me to get around the city. I felt really tired, and unmotivated to do anything about my weight. I stopped wearing makeup and didn't put much effort into my clothesI figured, What's the point?"
HERE AND NOW: "I haven't reached my goal weight, but I at least have a waist and cheekbones, so I lookand feellike a completely different person. For the first time, my body can make a good first impression instead of my personality doing all the work. So I wear more makeup, spend time on my hair, and buy nice, tailored clothes. Before a recent vacation, I even bought a bikini, though I didn't have the courage to wear it."
