In July of 2008, Dr. Bronya Keats took early retirement from her position at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center to return to Australia to spend time with her family. Dr. Keats has been involved with ataxia research throughout her career and has been an integral member of the National Ataxia Foundation's Medical Research Advisory Board.
She received her PhD in human genetics from the Australian National University in 1976, and spent several postdoctoral years at the University of Hawaii before accepting a faculty position at LSU's Health Sciences Center in 1982.
