City council apologises over landlords data blunder.

A local authority has been forced to apologise following a data blunder which resulted in the e-mail addresses of hundreds of private landlords being distributed.

Aberdeen City Council admitted yesterday it had made a mistake when a message was sent from its landlord registration office to homeowners without e-mail addresses being properly omitted.

Last night, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) said there had been a potential breach of the Data Protection Act and an investigation would be carried out if it received a complaint.
