NTPC: AN INTEGRATED ENERGY COMPANY (to have a presence in coal mining and power trading).
Public sector undertaking (PSU), National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Ltd is a Navratna PSU, which is planning to enter into the coal, hydro and nuclear power segment and also have a presence in coal mining and power trading.
NTPC is planning to raise the capacity of its capacity to 50,000 MW from 29,144 MW by 2012. NTPC added 7,155 MW during the Tenth Five-Year Plan (2002-2007) and another 1,240 MW for Apr-Dec 2007 period. NTPC is currently constructing 13,360 MW of capacity.
