Buckle still upbeat despite shield exit.

Torquay United manager Paul Buckle was heartened by the performances from his fringe players in Tuesday night's 1-0 Setanta Shield defeat at Forest Green Rovers.

An 87th-minute goal from Barnstaple-born striker Mike Symons sent the Gulls falling to their first defeat in 18 League and Cup outings - but Buckle wasn't exactly heartbroken at the setback.

"We are still on a great run - it's been a fantastic run," said Buckle. "With all due respect to the competition, it's not a priority and I just wanted to give some players a run-out. You only have to see from the small crowd and the flat atmosphere that it's not a priority. …
