Melanie A. DeGrandchamp, Manchester College, Indiana
Melannie is a junior majoring in adapted physical education at Manchester College, with a current overall GPA of 3.8. Melanie has demonstrated leadership throughout her academic career, participating in the AAHPERD National Student Leadership Conference and currently serving as President-Elect of the Midwest District Council for Future Professionals. While earning the above recognitions, Melanie has also provided exceptional service to children and youths with disabilities through her volunteer work. She serves as a volunteer in the community Special Olympics program coaching athletes with intellectual disabilities, tutors at-risk children in the local schools to improve their reading ability, and teaches students with disabilities in a weekly on-campus physical education program. Her nominator, Dr. Kim Duchane, stated that "Melanie has been an inspiration to others in the field of adapted physical education.
