Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania has agreed to settle a sex bias suit with its field hockey coach for $200,000.
Patricia Rudy initially sued the State System, each of its 14 schools and the board of governors, alleging that 119 female coaches in the state system were paid less than their male counterparts. Rudy amended the complaint last October to include only Lock Haven.
Besides inequity in pay, Rudy contended that female coaches receive less support in terms of facilities, scholarship funds, assistants and vehicle and housing allowances.
