Gun beats scissors.(EXERCISING THE RIGHT)
Running with scissors--to commit robbery--certainly proved unwise in Woodbridge, Virginia. Would-be criminals staked out a small retail establishment called Tienda Hispana Esperanza and entered the store owned by Esperanza Salazar. According to the Manassas Journal Messenger, the men threatened her with a pair of scissors and a small knife. They quickly discovered that this mother heartily disapproved, and had the means to express her disapproval and protect her family?
The three robbers ran into the store about 11:30 a.m. on September 28, pulled out a pair of scissors, and pointed them at the owner's neck. Another of the trio, wielding a small knife, grabbed Salazar's son by the arm.
This chilling situation for mother and child ended a few moments later when Esperanza demonstrated the value of firearms in defense of women and families. Reacting quickly, Esperanza reached for a handgun she kept in the store and pointed it at the three men.
