The first ever serialized audiobook, The Chopin Manuscript (Brilliance Audio, unabridged, six CDs, $29.95), was originally available only as an audio download (released Sept.-Nov. 2007 in weekly installments). Jeffery Deaver created the central character, wrote the first and last two chapters, and then assembled 14 other top mystery writers (including Lisa Scottoline, Peter Spiegelman and Joseph Finder) to create a single mystery novel as an audio original.
