Sylvia Baldwin told police she left the child, Symyia Ross, in thebathtub and went to fix breakfast for her two other children, police reports state.
Baldwin said one of her other children told her to go look at Symyia, and the mother found the child under the water in the tub, reports state.
Next door neighbors came to the house when they heard Baldwin calling for help, and one neighbor performed CPR on the child until paramedics arrived.
An ambulance transported Symyia from her home in the 2200 block of Dixie Avenue to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at about 8:30 a.m.
