JISC journals buy saves institutions millions

Universities, colleges and research councils will get free access to 800,000 journal articles after JISC Collections struck an archive licensing agreement with the American Chemical Society, Brill, ProQuest, and Taylor & Francis.
The purchase includes 230 peer-reviewed journals and came in response to demand from institutions.
"It is the thing we probably get the most queries about from universities," said Liam Earney, JISC Collections team manager. "Institutions need access to as much content as possible online to enhance their teaching and research, and to save shelf space and staff time."
Previously licensed archives from the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institute of Physics, Royal Society of Chemistry and Oxford Journals have all had high take-up.
