HONG KONG, Nov 3 Asia Pulse - A Hong Kong party chief has urged local consumers to spend more in a bid to help small and medium enterprises withstand the global financial storm.
Liberal Party Chairwoman Miriam Lau made the call when visiting local stores in Central, the semi-official RTHK reported Saturday.
Ms. Lau reportedly said that more small shops could fail as their cash flow problems continue, leading to a chain reaction that will push up.
The large amount of small and medium enterprises in the territory and the Pearl River Delta in China are facing a critical monment as most of the local banks are tightening loans to them in the face of the global economic downturn.
