Prosecutors in the Moscow region have suspended the investigation into the mysterious beating death of opposition activist Yury Chervochkin, citing lack of evidence, opposition coalition The Other Russia said Friday.
Prosecutors suspended the investigation because "the people involved in the crime have not been identified," coalition spokesman Alexander Averin said. The lawyer representing Chervochkin's family plans to appeal the decision, he said.
Repeated calls to the Moscow Regional Prosecutor's Office, which is handling the investigation, went unanswered Friday.
