Philadelphia--the 1772 price book and Thomas Chambers
One of the most exciting episodes in our field in recent years was the discovery in 2003 of a long-lost printed version of the 1772 Philadelphia Prices of Cabinet and Chair Work, which the curator at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Alexandra Alevizalos Kirtley calls "a once in a lifetime find." The price book is now on public view in Philadelphia for the first time, accompanied by twenty-three pieces of colonial furniture that reflect the forms described in its pages.
