Most people have moved beyond warm milk and Goodnight Moon: Some of us sip Bedtime Tea and watch The Daily Show; others need something a bit stronger to help them nod off--say, Ambien and Frasier reruns. We asked celebrities at the Tony Awards and a Cinema Society screening of Trumbo what they do before hitting the hay.
The bedtime routines of many stars are disappointingly G-rated. "I drink a lot of water, put on hand cream, and settle in with a good book," said Leighton Meester. Others are too tired for any ritual at all. "By the time I hit the bedroom, it's lights out," said Harry Connick Jr.
James Franco confessed that he avoids the bedroom altogether: "Unless I'm accompanied by my girlfriend, I watch a movie until I pass out on the couch. If I go into the bedroom, it just feels like giving up, surrendering to the day." Christine Baranski may have the most fun of all, but she wouldn't divulge any specifics: "I'm not telling you," she said, "but it makes me happy."
