The great, great, great-niece of Newcomb College's founding benefactor has filed suit challenging the decision by Tulane University LA to dissolve the women's college.

Susan Henderson Montgomery's suit is the second effort by relatives of Josephine Louise Newcomb to challenge the 2005 decision to dissolve Newcomb College and Tulane's post hoc decision to put the school's endowment toward its post-Katrina renewal plan.

In 2006, two nieces of Newcomb sought an injunction against Tulane for closing the school. In February 2008 the Louisiana Supreme Court agreed to hear testimony on the case known as Howard v. Tulane.
