Indonesian shares close easier; index fall limited by coal stocks gains - UPDATE.

JAKARTA (Thomson Financial) - Indonesian shares closed slightly lower on Friday in line with weakness in regional markets after Wall Street fell overnight, but with the main index's fall limited by some gains in coal stocks.

"People were talking about a disruption to coal shipping in Vietnam, which could boost coal prices. That's why most coal stocks were higher," said Oos Rosady, a dealer at Mandiri Securities.

But the rupiah's easing against the dollar also weighed on sentiment.

The Jakarta composite index closed down 3.09 points or 0.1 percent at 2,195.93.
