Jupiter swings into Forrester's orbit

Forrester Research has acquired JupiterResearch and its parent company JUPR Holdings from MCG Capital Corporation for $23m in cash. JupiterResearch has 83 employees and revenues in 2007 were $14m. Forrester turned over $212m in 2007 and has more than 1,000 staff. JupiterResearch will join Forrester's marketing and strategy client group. Louise Garnett, vice president and lead analyst with research and advisory firm Outsell, said that it was a good deal, given both firms' internet coverage. "The firms have been simultaneously competitive and complementary and the acquisition will add strength to their coverage," she said.

Infosecurity top of business anxiety list

Securing personally identifiable information (PII) is a top concern for business executives, according to a survey of more than 3,000 professionals in nearly 100 countries. The study, which identified the top business issues affected by technology, was conducted by ISACA. Other issues besides regulatory compliance include infosecurity management and business continuity. Greg Grocholski, chair of ISACA's assurance committee, said: "The cost of losing or compromising the integrity of PII is leading to a renewed focus on information security. The survey shows that 81% of the 1,600 respondents who ranked information security management as a number three concern said that security risks were not fully known or only partially addressed using technology."
