Romanian regulator ANRCTI's Statistical Data Report for the electronic communications sector for the first half of 2007 reveals that public mobile network traffic continued its upward trend, increasing by 24 percent compared to the second half of 2006. In the first half of 2007, the total traffic achieved on the mobile networks (excluding roaming) reached 9.7 billion minutes. On-net traffic accounted for 79.3 percent of traffic and grew 25.8 percent compared to the previous period. Off-net mobile traffic represents 15.5 percent of the total mobile traffic, followed by the traffic to fixed networks (3.2 percent) and traffic to international networks (2 percent). The monthly average for a mobile telephony user reached one hour and 23 minutes. SMS traffic increased 27 percent from H2 2006 and by 40 percent from the same period of 2006, which leads to a monthly average of 13 SMS per user. The reduction in MMS traffic in H2 2006 was followed by a 40 percent increase in the first half of 2007.
