Saturday: Up early and off to Nottingham Rowing Club. I've only recently started, but inspired by the Olympic rowers I feel anything is possible today. Unfortunately the wind and rain do nothing for my technique and I spend the rest of the day recovering.

Sunday: Having moved here from Scarborough I still haven't got used to the novelty of great shopping on my doorstep, so I take the opportunity to indulge in some retail therapy. I catch a bit of the carnival parade and can't resist picking up something exciting for tea from Delilah's.

Monday: Watching the Olympics over breakfast I get really excited about the swimming …
