Sage buys communications and linguistics journals

Academic publisher Sage has acquired Language and Speech, and International Journal of Bilingualism, two journals previously published by Kingston Press.
Language and Speech first appeared in 1958, and International Journal of Bilingualism was launched in 1997.
Brian Draper, Kingston's managing director, said the titles were sold because Kingston, a family-run business, wanted to ensure the long-term future of the journals.
"Successful as these journals are, we felt that more could be achieved through a more extensive promotional programme than we had resources for," Draper said.
